Identity Verification of MYETV: Unlock the full platform experience

At MYETV, we’ve always believed that the internet should be an open, accessible space for everyone. That’s why your MYETV account- [Account: an Account contains the personal information that is assigned to those who register and access with email and password] - will always be free, no subscriptions, no hidden fees, no expiration dates. But as our platform- [Platform: the set of the main domain and all the subdomain of a particular website; also the computer architecture and equipment using a particular operating system] - grows and we introduce more powerful features, some of them require us to know a little more about who you are.

Today, we’re introducing MYETV Identity Verification, a one-time process that unlocks the full potential of your account, keeps the platform safe for everyone, and helps us comply with international regulations around privacy, age-restricted content- [Contents: every content intended as text, images, audio or video] - , and digital communications.

In this post, we’ll walk you through everything: what changes, what stays the same, why we’re doing this, how the verification works, and what happens to your data.


Your account is still free, always

Let’s get this out of the way first: nothing is being taken away from you.

If you’ve been using MYETV for a while and you choose not to verify your identity, your account keeps working. You can still:

  • Follow and be followed by other users,
  • Build and manage your playlists and content lists,
  • Browse and enjoy the vast majority of content on the platform,
  • Use all standard features that don’t require age confirmation or identity checks.

Verification is not a paywall. It’s an upgrade path, one that happens to be completely free.


What verification unlocks

Once you complete identity verification, your account gains access- [Access the simple access to a website as a visitor] - to a broader set of features that we simply cannot offer responsibly without confirming who you are:

📁 MyCloud Storage

Upload- [Upload: the action by a owners of the network of sending an image or audio or video file (named as content) from the device] - , store, and manage your own files directly on MYETV’s cloud infrastructure. MyCloud is a personal space tied to your verified identity, and keeping it that way ensures your files are always yours and protected.

🔞 Adult and Age-Restricted Content

Some content on MYETV is only appropriate for adults. Rather than relying on a simple checkbox saying “I’m over 18” (which anyone can click), we’ve implemented real age verification. This is better for creators who publish mature content, better for advertisers, and, most importantly, better for younger users who should never encounter it.

🛡️ Parental Control Settings

Unverified accounts have a set of safety filters applied by default. Verified users can review and adjust certain protection settings based on their confirmed age and identity, giving adults more control over their own experience.

💬 Private Messaging

The ability to send and receive private messages is reserved for verified users. This is a direct response to the growing global challenge of anonymous harassment, spam, and harmful communications online. Knowing that every inbox conversation is between real, verified people makes MYETV’s messaging a genuinely safer space.

📝 Publishing Posts and Creating Public Networks

Want to post on your profile timeline or create a public network- [Network of Contents: is the channel in which owners can post their content and the audience can see the contents posted by the owners] - that other users can join? Verification is required. This prevents anonymous actors from flooding the platform with spam, misinformation, or coordinated inauthentic behavior, problems that have plagued nearly every major social platform.


Why We’re Doing This

You might be wondering: why now? And why does MYETV need to know who I am?

There are a few honest answers.

First, the legal landscape is changing fast. Regulations across the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and many other countries are increasingly requiring platforms to verify user ages before granting access to certain types of content or communication features. The EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), the UK’s Online Safety Act, and similar frameworks around the world are pushing platforms of all sizes to take identity and age verification seriously. We’d rather get ahead of this than scramble to comply later.

Second, the platform is maturing. MYETV started as a video platform. It’s grown into something more: a social network, a content creation hub, a cloud storage service, and a community. With that growth comes responsibility. Features like private messaging and public posting have real-world consequences, and we want to make sure the people using them are accountable, real individuals.

Third, we want to protect the most vulnerable users. Children and teenagers access the internet with fewer filters than ever before. By implementing age verification, we’re adding a meaningful layer of protection, not just a symbolic one.


How the Verification Process Works

We’ve worked hard to make this as simple and frictionless as possible. Here’s exactly what to expect.

Step 1: Start the Verification

From your MYETV account settings, navigate to the “Private Information” section and click “Identity Verification”. You’ll be redirected to a secure, dedicated verification page powered by our verification partner.

Step 2: Choose Your Device

You can complete the verification on your smartphone (recommended, since you’ll need to photograph your document) or directly on your desktop computer if it has a camera. A QR code will be displayed on screen, scan it with your phone to seamlessly continue the process on your mobile device. Alternatively, a direct link is also provided if you prefer to open the verification page directly in your browser.

Step 3: Prepare Your Identity Document

You’ll need a valid, government-issued identity document. The system supports a wide range of document types across more than 220 countries and territories, including:

Europe:

  • National ID cards (Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Poland, and most EU/EEA countries)
  • Passports
  • Residence permits

Americas:

  • Passports (all countries)
  • National ID cards (Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, and others)
  • Driver’s licenses (USA, Canada — varies by state/province)

Asia-Pacific:

  • Passports (all countries)
  • National ID cards (Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Philippines, and many others)
  • Driver’s licenses (Australia, New Zealand, and others)

Middle East & Africa:

  • Passports (all countries)
  • National ID cards (UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, and many others)

In general, if you have a valid passport, it will work everywhere. For national ID cards and driver’s licenses, acceptance depends on the issuing country and document type. The verification system supports over 4,000 document types globally, so the vast majority of valid government-issued IDs are accepted.

Make sure your document is:

  • Not expired,
  • Clearly readable with no significant damage or obstruction,
  • Well-lit when photographed avoid glare, shadows, or blurry images.

Step 4: Photograph Your Document

You’ll be guided through photographing the front (and back, if applicable) of your document. The process is step-by-step with clear on-screen instructions. The system uses AI-assisted capture to help you get a usable image, it will let you know if the photo is too blurry, too dark, or cut off.

No selfie is required.

Step 5: Automatic Processing

Once your document images are submitted, our verification system analyzes them automatically. This typically takes less than a minute. The system reads:

  • Your full name,
  • Your date of birth,
  • Your nationality and country of issuance,
  • Your address (where present on the document),
  • Other document metadata for validation purposes.

In most cases, the result is instant. Occasionally, a submission may require additional review, which can take a little longer. You’ll be notified once your verification is complete.

Step 6: Done

That’s it. Verification is a one-time process. You never have to do it again unless something exceptional happens.


What Happens to Your Data

We understand that submitting an identity document online is a significant act of trust. We’ve taken that seriously at every step of the design process.

Here’s exactly what happens to your information:

What We Store

Once verification is approved, we extract and save the following data to your MYETV profile in encrypted form:

  • Your verified full name,
  • Your date of birth,
  • Your nationality,
  • Your country and address (where available on the document),
  • Your gender (as recorded on the document),
  • A verification status flag and timestamp.

This data is stored securely in our database using encryption and is accessible only to you and, where legally required, to authorized MYETV personnel for compliance purposes.

What We Don’t Store

We do not permanently store images of your identity document.

The photos you take during the verification process are used solely for the purpose of extracting the data listed above. After successful verification, document images are permanently deleted within a maximum of 30 days. They are not retained, sold, shared, or used for any other purpose.

We will never sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.

Our Verification Partner

The verification process is handled through a secure, GDPR-compliant identity verification partner. Your document images are transmitted securely (encrypted in transit) to their processing servers, analyzed, and then scheduled for deletion. MYETV only receives the structured, extracted data, not the raw images.

A full Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is in place between MYETV and our verification partner, as required under GDPR Article 28.


If Something Goes Wrong

Verification doesn’t always go perfectly on the first try. Common issues include:

  • Poor image quality (too dark, blurry, or cut off),
  • Expired document submitted by mistake,
  • Document type not supported for your country,
  • System review delays (rare, but it happens).

If your verification is rejected or you experience a technical issue, you cannot immediately retry on your own, this is an intentional safeguard against repeated automated attempts. Instead, please contact our support team at:

Our team will review your case, guide you through any issues, and manually authorize a new verification attempt if appropriate. We aim to respond to all verification-related support requests within 24–48 hours.


A Note on Privacy and Consent

Submitting your identity for verification is entirely voluntary. You are never forced to verify, and your unverified account will continue to function with the features described earlier in this post.

By starting the verification process, you consent to the collection and processing of your identity document data for the purpose of verifying your identity and age on MYETV. You can read more about how we handle your data in our Privacy Policy.

Verified data is linked exclusively to your MYETV account and is not shared with other users, advertisers, or third-party services beyond what is strictly necessary for verification processing.

Looking Ahead

The list of features that require verification may evolve over time. As we continue to build out MYETV, some new features may become verification-gated from launch, and we may revisit which existing features require it. We’ll always communicate any changes clearly and with reasonable notice.

Our goal has never been to put up walls. It’s to build a platform where real people feel genuinely safe, where creators are protected, where children are not exposed to content they shouldn’t see, and where the community that’s forming around MYETV is made up of accountable, real individuals.
