From today there is an important update about the username and the URL: in line with this year’s provisions to maintain a high degree of privacy, we have decided to split the account- [Account: an Account contains the personal information that is assigned to those who register and access with email and password] - username and/or nickname from its personalized url; from today, in fact, it will be possible to choose a custom URL for your account that differs from the username or nickname. If before the complete link of the network- [Network of Contents: is the channel in which owners can post their content and the audience can see the contents posted by the owners] - consisted of these elements:
myetv.tv/network/username (or custom nickname)
from today it will consist of this single element:
myetv.tv/network/custom-url
where “custom-url” must be unique and can be easily customized in the profile edit page as many times as you want and without further limitations; also the nickname can be changed whenever the owner of the account want and cannot be the same as any other public network name; the username can never be changed.
Where’s the news? New subscribers will have the url equal to the username, which is assigned automatically, and they will be able to change both the nickname (which will be visible to the public and unique) and the url (which cna differ from the nickname and must be unique, this means that there cannot be two identical URLs throughout the platform- [Platform: the set of the main domain and all the subdomain of a particular website; also the computer architecture and equipment using a particular operating system] - ); username are not editable and must be unique from the signup. This small but powerful update allows for even more complete privacy, being able to hide information that may be sensitive and useful only for internal account recognition.
This update apply only for private accounts and not for public network of contents- [Network of Contents: is the channel in which owners can post their content and the audience can see the contents posted by the owners] - ; the public networks of contents- [Contents: every content intended as text, images, audio or video] - must have an unique name and url.
Rules for custom URLs:
- URL link must be RFC standard compliant (a check will be done)
- Custom URLs must be unique (a check will be done)
- URLs cannot contain spaces or special characters (a check will be done)
- URLs can be different from the nickname or username
- Custom URLs can be changed and updated without any other limitations
